Where AI helps, and where it does not belong

Where we use AI

  • Drafting replies to a lead’s follow-up questions, for your staff to approve.
  • Drafting answers to legal questions for a person at your firm to review, edit or discard.

Where we do not

  • Giving legal advice or predicting outcomes or case value. Never, to anyone.
  • Rejecting an inquiry on its own. Low scores go to a person.
  • Sending an unreviewed AI message to a lead. First replies use your approved templates.
  • Pretending to be human. Every message says it is automated.

What actually moves the numbers

The intake problems small firms describe are mostly about speed and persistence, not intelligence.

Speed

A reply within 60 seconds, at any hour, is measurable from day one. See the lead response time guide for what the 2024 data shows.

Compliance

Per-channel consent, STOP honored at once, quiet hours and advertising labels. Read how on the compliance page.

Source to signed

Knowing which search, page or ad produced each signed case tells you where to spend. That is arithmetic, not AI.

Seven questions to ask any AI intake vendor

  1. Which messages can the AI send to a prospective client without a person approving them?
  2. What happens when a lead asks a legal question? Who answers, and is it logged?
  3. Can the system reject or deprioritize a lead without a person seeing it?
  4. Does every automated message say it is automated?
  5. How is consent for text and WhatsApp recorded: the exact wording, the time and the channel?
  6. Is the firm’s data isolated from other firms’ data, and is it used to train models for anyone else?
  7. Is the evidence for your results independent, or is it your own marketing?

Questions firms ask

What is AI legal intake?

Software that uses AI somewhere in the handling of a new inquiry: reading it, drafting a reply, summarizing it or helping qualify it. The useful question is not whether a tool uses AI, but which decisions it lets the AI make on its own.

Does Intake Efficiency’s AI talk to leads on its own?

No. Replies to new inquiries use templates your firm approved. When a lead writes back with a question, AI drafts a reply for your staff to edit and approve before it is sent.

Can AI decide that a lead is not worth taking?

Not in Intake Efficiency. Scores come with plain-English reasons, and a low score is flagged for a person to review rather than rejected automatically.

Do you publish results showing the AI improves conversion?

No. We have no independent evidence to publish yet, and vendor claims about AI results, including ours, are not independent. Judge us on response time, compliance and source-to-signed reporting, which you can measure yourself during the trial.
